American University Student Center
Washington, DC The new three part expansion of the Mary Graydon Student Center at American University includes a glass-covered addition to serve as the main entry into the student center complex of the University. This concourse, located between three separate buildings, will provide extra dining facilities, a new information center, and bright, open gathering spaces for the students. The renovated and expanded student center is approximately 30,000 square feet. The entire second floor of the building was gutted and reconfigured for use by various student organizations and for student related services. The new space consists of student lounges, several conference rooms, a cyber-café, and flex-classroom/offices for various university newspapers and other student organizations. The design concept is bold, abstract, and colorful, using simple, durable materials, such as birch veneer plywood stained in various colors. Client: American University |
